Are you aware?

Due to my previous life in the protection business, I have a habit of watching and reading people's body language and actions, and one thing that has disturbed me for so long is the pure disregard that some people have for their personal safety or that of their loved ones.

The other day I was in SLC and watched a man get out of his car, motor running, and go into a store. No big deal? The problem is that he left his two children in the car! With it running!!! Both children were under the age of four. How about we serve them up on a platter?!?

I have also watched as women will come out of the store, groceries in hand along with purse, cell phone etc....get to their car and fumble around in their purse for their keys while talking on the phone! HELLO?

Have witnessed too many women leave their work, alone, to the elevator or parking structure...alone....and not pay attention to what is around them.

Let me let you in on a cold hard fact....the violent criminal is stalking its prey.....YOU.....so he can pick the most opportune time to strike! And you are giving him the opening. The predator is not picking people at random! He is watching and waiting for you to show him when the best time is to attack.

If you do not know what is happening around you at all times and seeing the predator before he has the chance, then you might as well wear a sign that says "pick me, I'm an easy target!"

As I said, are you aware?
