It could be said that this woman was in the wrong place at the wrong time, however, we all need to put gas in our cars and go about our lives. What could she have done different? This ended up with her surviving, but it could have turned out much worse. There was some things she could have done to not be forced into the car and become a victim. SALT LAKE CITY -- Police are investigating a kidnapping and sexual assault that began at 845 E. 4500 South.
The Unified Police Department says around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday a man pulled up to the Smith's gas station at that location, pulled a gun on the clerk and demanded money.
The clerk said he had none. The would-be robber ordered him to get some from the main store, but the clerk called 911 instead.
A woman was filling her car with gas. The robber pulled the gun on her, demanded money, then forced her to drive to an ATM. He then forced her to drive to a cul-de-sac nearby and sexually assaulted her.
Then they drove a few blocks away, where he got out of the car, told her to drive away, and fled.
nvestigators are still looking for the man and have only a vague description of him. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black ski mask and black gloves. He's described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, 170 pounds with a thin build.
Police are checking surveillance video for more information about him.
Police say the gas station clerk is OK. The woman was taken to a hospital.
